Super Bright

Clients should exfoliate every 3 days when using this product at home. Alternating between Super Bright and Retinol is an effective combination for clients undergoing a skin revision program for pigmentation. 

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) — A lipophilic stable form of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that stimulates collagen synthesis, inhibits tyrosinase, and reduces pigmentation while protecting from oxidative and environmental stress. It is also involved in the ‘recycling’ of vitamin E for its reactivation in the skin. MAP can brighten, soften, smooth, and strengthen skin.

Phytic Acid — Phytic acid is not classified as an AHA or BHA; it is a potent antioxidant and mild exfoliant that reduces overall melanin production. The stimulating aspects of phytic acid reduce pigment concentrations of compacted corneocytes at the surface, clear out follicles, and reduce pore size.

Glycyrrhiza Uralensis Root Extract (Licorice) — Licorice is a cooling skin conditioner that calms irritation and redness. It is a natural extraction containing flavonoids that inhibit inflammation, lighten pigmentation, and counteract oxidative stress. Licorice also improves hydration, suppleness, and turgidity by preserving the skin’s hyaluronic acid content.

Morus Alba Root Extract (White Mulberry) — A proven skin brightener and tone balancer, mulberry is typically combined with other ingredients to create a potent cocktail of skin-lightening agents. Mulberry inhibits tyrosinase and has several biocompatible compounds that are antioxidant, antimicrobial, soothing, free radical scavenging, and anti-inflammatory.

Avena Sativa Kernel Flour (Oat) — Oat flour helps calm and protect inflamed skin conditions with antioxidant and photoprotective phenolic compounds. It also contains high levels of the immune-boosting polysaccharide beta-glucan, which increases the skin’s water holding capacity. This ingredient is a good source of B vitamins, vitamin E, proteins, fats, and minerals.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) — A glycosaminoglycan (GAG) and polysaccharide part of the intercellular matrix. HA is a hygroscopic molecule that permeates the skin and draws in water to replenish and maintain hydration levels. HA improves elasticity and forms a topical film that plumps and softens fine lines and wrinkles.

Kojic Acid — This chelation (binding) agent suppresses melanin production and brightens hyperpigmentation. Kojic acid inhibits tyrosinase. Over time, it evens skin tone by affecting melanocytes’ ability to transfer pigment to skin cells.

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Jojoba) — Jojoba is an oil rich in fatty acids and waxy esters. It has some similarities to natural sebum (sebum is ~ 26% waxy esters) and works superficially to restore and reinforce barrier function. This ingredient is anti-inflammatory, emollient, and softening.

Ursolic Acid — A botanically derived triterpenoid that is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Ursolic acid inhibits MMPs, enhances barrier recovery and permeability, and improves the appearance of photoaging, fine lines, and wrinkles. It also brightens to reduce hyperpigmentation and redness.

Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract (Bearberry) — This ingredient naturally contains the phytochemical arbutin, a phenolic compound that inhibits tyrosinase and prevents melanin formation. Bearberry protects against UVB. It is gentler than other brightening agents and lightens hyperpigmentation without irritating the skin. Bearberry also contains phenols, tannins, and flavonoids, making it antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and free radical scavenging.

Mitracarpus Scaber Extract — A botanical that contains harounoside. This derivative of hydroquinone acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor; other phytochemicals in Mitracarpus are anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.

Retinyl Palmitate — A type of vitamin A that is enzymatically converted to retinoic acid in the skin, but without the irritation potential. Vitamin A is critical for the long-term maintenance of healthy skin. It slows the mechanisms of aging by inhibiting collagen breakdown and MMPs, promoting glycosaminoglycan (GAG) synthesis, repairing photodamage, and facilitating collagen production. Topical application of Retinyl Palmitate speeds wound healing, smooths texture, reduces pigmentation, evens tone, boosts elasticity, and refines wrinkles.

Curcuma Longa Root Extract (Curcumin) — Curcumin is derived from turmeric. This phytonutrient is antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal. In addition, it exhibits wound healing benefits, from decreased healing time to increased fibroblast and vascular density. Curcumin reduces the signs of aging and pigmentation by increasing collagen and inhibiting melanin synthesis.
